Senior Proofing, Child Proofing and the Presence of Panic Investing

It’s an old saying that a five-year-old child is of the same intelligence as an adult monkey.

With this old saying floating about, it’s important to reiterate the National Child Safety Council’s rule of thumb in terms of senior proofing, child proofing and fire safety awareness in relation to panic investing. Panicking is not an investing strategy, let alone a way to go about excusing behavior that may help fortify or condemn the wellbeing of a child and a senior. When it comes to senior safety, it’s instead important to invest in the benefit of waiting in terms of a few household objects; a flashlight, stovetop pots and pans, charcoal briquets and medication. 

Flashlight 

It is important to senior safety to keep a flash light on the floor, beside the bed. This can be helpful when a senior has to awake late in the night to get a cup of coffee or perhaps use the bathroom. It’s also important to keep waiting in mind when it comes to this – don’t panic if you never knew this rule or if you’re approaching 65 and are unsure as to whether you should be planning a flashlight purchase kit before enrolling in Medicare. What’s important is to practice patience and invest when the time comes, as much as being aware of this rule if you are living with a senior or have a senior living within an investment. 

Stovetop Pot 

Stovetop pot? Yes, stovetop pot. A stovetop pot is an investment when it comes to keeping the art of waiting in mind because it so imperatively is as well as so importantly shouldn’t be in the way in terms of the stovetop pot handle. Ensure that you are patient when pots or pans are left on the stove while the handle is pointed outward by pulling the handle inward so that no spills or accidents may occur in the future. This keeps seniors safe throughout the day and limits risk when it comes to burns or fall downs. 

Charcoal Briquets 

Before you walk away from a fire make sure a fire is entirely out, not only for the sake of fire proofing but for the wellbeing of those who live within the investment. It’s important to keep in mind that panicking after learning this fact isn’t suitable for whether to stay or leave until a fire burns out but instead to wait and ensure that briquets are at the completion of ember, especially when there is dry tinder around the investment. 

Medication 

For medication, it’s important to ensure that low-laying shelves are kept in mind while childproofing, something to especially keep in mind when it comes to senior medication as well as pet medication. Making sure to wait to take your medication is one concern but ensuring that easy-to-open containers on a low-lying shelf so that a child may or may not ingest pet medication or senior medication out of the way is another.
